Mediation Conflict Resolution

Mediation is a proven method for resolving conflicts respectfully, openly and sustainably. In a protected setting, interests and needs are made visible – for sustainable win-win solutions and genuine understanding.

Mediation as an open path to conflict resolution – as equals.

Mediation involves all parties agreeing to a process and jointly breaking new ground. Because mediation is a voluntary process, it can also happen that not all parties get involved in the clarification process. In this case, I will support you individually in developing a solution for yourself and breaking new ground.

How I work

The A.L.I.G.N. process for conflict resolution

Mediation is more than mediation – it is a path to mutual understanding, clarity and sustainable decisions. My A.L.I.G.N. process creates the space for this.

The first step in mediation is to clarify the core problem or task. This involves identifying what the conflict is really about, separating facts from emotions, and ensuring that all parties agree on what needs to be addressed.

Next, the mediator and participants identify and prioritize the central issues. These can include communication breakdowns, unmet expectations, or differing goals that fuel the conflict.

Mediation creates space for all voices to be heard. By integrating perspectives, participants build shared goals and mutual understanding, laying the foundation for constructive dialogue.

With clarity and alignment, the focus shifts to developing creative solutions. Mediation highlights moments of insight and breakthrough, encouraging new ways to collaborate and resolve issues effectively.

The final step is to foster agreement and shared commitment. Mediation helps participants reach a clear decision or next step, ensuring that solutions are realistic, sustainable, and supported by everyone involved.

In a deadlocked, emotionally charged situation, Ms. Vormbaum not only mediated – she brought us back into a real dialogue. With empathy, clarity, and impressive calm, she guided us step by step to a mutual understanding that we thought was impossible. It was far more than a compromise: it was the beginning of a new culture of conversation. Her work continues to have an impact to this day.

The conflict training with Theresa was super helpful – we not only learned the basics of communication and conflict behavior, but were also able to apply what we learned directly in partner exercises. This practical part in particular helped me to anchor new behavioral patterns.

Theresa leads the workshop very competently, warmly and gives many practical tips along the way.

FAQ Mediation Conflict Resolution

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions.
Whether it’s about processes, offers or general conditions – compiled in a compact and understandable way. And if something is still unclear: I look forward to hearing from you!

No.
A coach usually supports an individual (the coachee) and supports them in the best possible way – regardless of the impact on the environment.
A mediator, on the other hand, is impartial. She helps all parties involved to jointly develop a solution that is sustainable and fair for everyone.
It’s not about winning or losing – but about finding the best solution for the system as a whole.

That is very individual. It depends on:

  • how many people are involved,
  • how escalated the conflict is,
  • how complex the topic is.

A mediation can take a few hours or several days, in rare cases even over a longer period.
In most cases, however, a few intensive sessions are sufficient – especially if good preparation takes place.

No, definitely not.
I am neither a judge nor a referee.
I support people in developing their own solution that works for all parties.
I don’t decide on right or wrong – but help to create common clarity. The goal is that everyone ends up a winner from the process.

Not quite. Mediation is an out-of-court procedure used to resolve conflicts – often also as a supplement to legal advice.

A big difference: Lawyers represent the interests of one party, they are not allowed to act impartially.

If a lawyer works as a mediator, he changes his role – he then no longer acts as a lawyer, but as a neutral mediator.

That’s why I work with law firms to conduct mediations for their clients.

Very important: In order for all parties involved to be able to make well-founded decisions, it is essential that the parties involved seek legal advice before the mediation. This is the only way to create solutions that are legally sound and sustainably viable.

No – even if the words sound similar.

Meditation is a spiritual practice for inner peace.

Mediation is a structured process for conflict resolution through communication.

Both can have a calming effect – but mediation pursues the goal of finding a clear, implementable solution for interpersonal tensions or conflicts.

Mediation is a clear but flexible process that is individually tailored to the parties involved. I work according to the ALIGN model, which leads to sustainable solutions step by step:

  • A – Analyze the problem: Individual discussions create trust and clarify the situation.

  • L – List core topics: In a joint discussion, we define the most important topics.

  • I – Integrate perspectives: We create understanding for the perspectives of all parties involved.

  • G – Generate ideas: Together we develop implementable solutions – realistic and binding.

  • N – Sustainable agreement: I accompany the implementation and help to consolidate the solutions in the long term.

Let’s start with a non-binding initial consultation. This is how we clarify whether mediation is the right format for you.
